FULL-DAY CONFERENCE Thursday, October 7, 2010 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Designed to Meet the Needs of GPs, LPs, & Managers of Buyout, Growth Equity, Mezzanine, & Lending Funds, as Well as Independent Sponsors, Operating Partners, Portfolio Company Managers, and the Bankers, Lawyers, Accountants, & Other Advisors Who Support Them Faculty | Schedule | Registration | Location | Sponsorship | Audio Package | Family offices and high net worth individuals increasingly represent a prime source of capital for today’s beleaguered private equity fund managers. A recent Preqin survey of family offices shows that 84% of family office investors consider private equity to have met or exceeded their expectations -- and they’re receptive to deal opportunities from both their current GPs and emerging GPs.
Meanwhile the current marketplace is more promising than even six months ago. Liquidity is coming back to family offices and wealthy individuals allowing them to put more dollars into funds to maintain their allocation percentages -- and opening the door to emerging managers with solid credentials.
BUT IT’S NOT A SLAM DUNK TO MAKE THE SALE -- these LPs are hard to find and approach. Once you locate them, you need to quickly differentiate yourself from the competition, demonstrate why you are unique, and establish trust. Many office managers and high net worth investors make their decisions in the first five minutes of your meeting, and they will be looking for a reason to say “no.”
Overall, there is a flight to quality -- along with a flight to simplification. Family office managers and wealthy individuals are searching for solid returns, but paying more attention to risk and leverage. Family office managers are putting more money behind fewer names, paring down their portfolios of managers, and not being as patient as they may have been months ago.
There is also no one-size-fits-all approach to this marketplace. Family office managers usually must be approached differently than high net worth individuals -- the former may prefer institutional-style spreadsheets that can be sliced and diced, while the latter may make a quick decision based on trust and other intangibles.
In all cases, how you are introduced is usually a major factor, so you need to mine your connections and contacts and be aware of how to leverage new technologies and approaches such as online exchanges like Trusted Insight.
So whether you’re targeting a single high net worth individual, or the managers for single or multiple family fortunes, you must be thoroughly familiar with the issues that motivate them. And since these normally reclusive advisors value their privacy, your best avenue to hearing their likes and dislikes first-hand is to attend this all-new, full-day conference from The Capital Roundtable --
Private Equity Fundraising From Family Offices & Wealthy Individuals -- How More & More Private Equity Firms Are Meeting Their Goals Outside the Usual Institutional Sources
By attending this conference on Thursday, October 7 in New York, GPs will learn how to get the attention of family office managers and wealthy individuals, and what terms they need to offer.
While investors who attend will discover how deals are being structured in today’s recovering market and how other family offices are adjusting their asset allocations for the times.
Our last Family Office conference was held this February to a sold-out audience, and the high interest told us it was well worth an encore. But more importantly, over the preceding months, things have heated up and the game has changed in a good way. That’s why attending this conference is a must if you want the true insider’s view of this rich market.
What’s more, you can take advantage of our special Early Bird Discount -- if you act quickly. Sign up today for this MasterClass, and we will happily take $400 off your registration price!
