Because of the rising global demand for nutrition, and the limited amount of arable land and water for irrigation, agribusiness is increasingly a huge opportunity for private equity.
More and more investors are being drawn to the opportunities in capital equipment, services, inputs, logistics, and processing that serve the sector.
Importantly, there is substantial room to be a pioneer in agribusiness investing since it’s an under-allocated asset class with a large and easily exploited supply-and-demand mismatch.
2012 has been an unprecedented year for agribusiness investing, and 2013 promises to be even better --
- More than 190 middle-market private equity firms are investing in agribusiness today.
- 63 of these firms are collectively raising over $13 billion for new investments.
- Natural resources investors are adding agribusiness to diversify their portfolios.
Realizing strong returns from this dynamic trend is the focus of The Capital Roundtable’s ENCORE conference — “Private Equity Investing in Agribusiness Companies” -- being held in New York City on Thursday, January 10.
Here are six important reasons you should attend this conference --
- Understand where the greatest potential for success resides in the coming 3 to 5 years.
- Recognize which niches are ripe for investment -- from seed treatment to micronutrients to distribution.
- Hear which countries outside of North America have the most attractive investment targets.
- Discover ways to maximize profitability along all components of the industry’s value chain.
- Find out best practices for financing deals both in the U.S. and in emerging markets.
- Realize why the strongest opportunities lie in maximizing efficiencies and taking costs out of the system.
Serving as chair of this ENCORE conference, we are very happy to welcome Sebastian Popik, managing partner for Aqua Capital.
Sebastian has years of experience in private equity, running Aqua Capital, focusing on agribusiness and food middle-market opportunities in Brazil and South America. Previously he was managing director of Pampa Capital, also an agribusiness PE fund. He has also consulted extensively in agribusiness for Booz & Co. in Latin America and the U.S.
He is currently on the board of Cippec, a leading Argentine think tank. He holds a master’s in public policy from Harvard, where he was a Fulbright Scholar, and a BA in economics from Universidad de San Andres.
20 Agribusiness Experts Will Rapidly Grow Your Knowledge
Our Roundtable features four expert panel discussions led by our chair, and the shared insight of 20 of the top private equity experts in the agribusiness marketplace.
When you attend our January 10th Roundtable you will hear from GPs, operating executives, investment bankers, lenders, consultants, and more -- offering real-world perspectives, lessons learned and industry outlooks, plus insights on managing current portfolio companies.
Plus, you will find out about recent agribusiness deals from across the Americas, including --
- BASF’s acquisition of Ames, Iowa-based crop technology company, Becker Underwood, from Norwest Equity Partners.
- Aqua Capital´s recent acquisition of COMFRIO in Limeira, Brazil, a leading provider of cold storage and logistics support.
- Paine & Partners’ purchase of Eurodrip S.A. in Athens, Greece, a leading manufacturer of drip irrigation solutions for farmers with limited water resources.
By attending this Capital Roundtable conference, you will hear the strategies other investors in agribusiness are using to achieve long-lasting success, and to add value to their current portfolio companies.
And you will gain valuable information such as --
- What you should know about the impact of subsidies.
- How logistics is helping to reduce crop drippage.
- What are the risk/return and operational differences among different agribusiness-focused investment strategies.
- How you can make inroads with family-owned businesses in areas where outside investors are not always welcomed.
- Why agribusiness development takes time, and why patience reaps rewards.
- The impact government regulations and the globalization of food safety standards may have on the future of agribusiness companies.
Harvest New Contacts through Excellent Networking Opportunities
We’ve built ample time into the day’s agenda so you can --
- Meet fellow attendees and featured speakers
- Enhance your personal database with valuable connections
- Share ideas and business cards
- If you’re a lender, hedge fund manager, or investment banker – Identify potential partners
- If you’re an attorney or advisor – Meet new potential clients
- If you work as an executive search professional – Meet potential prospects
Keep in mind, this conference is certain to fill up quickly, so you’ll want to register as soon as possible to assure yourself a seat. We’ll be looking forward to
greeting you.
