As an operating partner today, you're responsible for a greater share of fund performance than ever before. You're likely involved in the bidding process. You may be involved in portfolio monitoring. And you're certainly expected to lead both day-to-day improvements and big picture strategies.

Among your greatest challenges is professional development & steering your own career.

  • Are you using the right tools for driving value creation?
  • Are you choosing the right organizational structures?
  • Are you being valued & fairly compensated?

What you need most is a forum for learning how other operating partners are thriving …how they’re avoiding pitfalls …how they’re positioning their own careers for the future.

That's the whole idea behind this encore conference from The Capital Roundtable. For eight years running, this has been the de facto industry conference that brings operating partners together to share solutions and discuss the day’s most timely issues.

And there perhaps has never been a more important year to evaluate these issues than 2015. Firms until now who had no operating partners are scrambling to build their staffs. The industry is acknowledging a direct correlation between top-quartile firms and their commitment to value creation through operational excellence -- the more Operating Partners on board, the better the results.

So whether you’re an operating partner, or you work with them, you belong at “Best Practices for PE Operating Partners & for Overseeing Portfolio Companies” -- being held on Thursday, June 25th, in New York City.

Here Are Three Reasons Why You Should Join Us

  1. Discover the strategies other OPs are executing to add value to the operations of their portfolio companies.
  2. Find out how OPs can gain the same status as deal partners, and which firms are standouts at valuing the operating partner role.
  3. Learn the ratios that firms are employing between full-time OPs and third-party consultants assigned to specific portfolio companies.

Register Now  to Hear from Today's Most Experienced Operating Partners

This conference brings together many of the industry's most respected and knowledgeable professionals to explore the issues that are on your mind -- that you're far too busy to research on your own.

Our panelists and speakers will cover the trends in PE operations that are making news, from specialized operating models to technology-driven initiatives. Presenters will also address the SEC's renewed scrutiny over how operating partners are compensated.

Chairing the conference is Bert Winemiller, noted operating partner at Baltimore’s JMI Equity that manages over $3.1 billion invested in software and technology-enabled services companies. He is a director of Adknowledge,, and Dean Evans & Associates.

Before joining JMI in 2011, Bert served as president, CEO, and chairman at a JMI portfolio company, PROS Holdings Inc. He has also served as president of American Business Information Inc., senior vice president at ADP Inc., and group president at IRIC. Bert began his career at IBM as a systems engineer and software developer.

Bert earned both a BS and MS degrees in mathematics and statistics from the University of Missouri, and an MBA from The Harvard Business School.

Register Now to Begin Applying Today’s Best Practices

Along with Bert, this conference features insights and advice from 20 top PE operating partners and consultants. Our panelists include specialists in performance measurement, compensation, and career planning.

In our candid, revealing sessions, we'll be answering such questions as --

  • What expectations do LPs have of today’s GP's operational capabilities?
  • How early are OPs being brought into deals nowadays? How does this affect their relationships with deal partners?
  • Beyond strategic knowledge, what are the most important emotional skills that make for successful operating partners?
  • What are the most important software tools being used for forecasts, organizational improvement, and performance tracking?
  • How should portfolio monitoring fees be treated to help assure compliance with IRS rules?
  • Can investment bankers help to make the operating partner's job easier?
  • How can you match an operational approach to a specific portfolio company --particularly if you are new to the private equity process?
  • What are the most crucial benchmarks for helping operating partners better manage costs?

Here Are Three More Reasons Why You Should Join Us

  1. Realize which metrics matter the most at assessing the performance of groups and of individuals.
  2. Understand how to make certain that top performers are in portfolio company leadership roles.
  3. Recognize what backgrounds are most relevant amongst operating partners, and what experience must be highlighted in your biography.
