Today, the transportation and logistics industries are rampant with non-stop change and rapid activity. There are continuous acquisitions both nationally and globally. Supply and customer logistics are changing thus shippers must react quickly and a plethora of new technologies are being tested to increase efficiency across the board.  In addition, new regulations are constantly changing the business.

That means that private equity and strategic investors need to know how to ask the right questions. Namely, how to assess the industry's unique quantitative metrics, as well as the important qualitative (or soft) factors that are essential today. And how to develop an organized game plan up front for a successful investment over time.

That's why this conference from The Capital Roundtable focuses on the specific investment criteria and market factors that you must have under your command before you proceed with deal making.

Whether you're new to investing in these industries -- or a seasoned pro -- this conference will guide you to the sectors that are most attractive to investors.

You’ll hear about --

  • Today's rash of activity in freight forwarding.
  • Reasons why intermodal transportation is outpacing GDP growth.
  • The importance of strategic warehousing and other ancillary services.
  • Why substantial sums are being spent on information systems to aid shippers.

And you'll discover the pitfalls that can trap even the savviest investor -- where newcomers often make mistakes, and what areas industry veterans often overlook. For example, we'll talk about the best practices for examining an existing equipment fleet and how to take maintenance records into account to assess value.

You'll be prepared to profit from this active and expanding industry when you attend The Capital Roundtable’s ENCORE conference -- “Private Equity Investing in Transportation & Logistics Companies,” being held in New York City, Thursday, December 10.

Here Are Several Reasons Why You Should Join Us

  1. Discover the key metrics and tools for assessing efficiencies and inefficiencies in transportation & logistics companies.
  2. Learn how state-of-the-art technologies are affecting drivers, and what companies are doing to retain drivers’ trust while still keeping in compliance.
  3. Find out how to evaluate a fleet to ensure you're acquiring a strong business, and avoiding substantial headaches.

Register Now to Meet Peter Hicks
& More Than 20 Other Transportation & Logistics Experts

Chairing the conference is Peter Hicks, managing director and co-founder of Linx Partners – a middle-market private equity firm based in Atlanta and New York that invests in U.S.-based companies operating in the industrial manufacturing, business services, and distribution markets with a specialty in logistics and energy services.

Before co-founding Linx Partners, Peter was a managing director at Schroders & Co., a major investment bank, and was co-founder and global head of the firm's industrial manufacturing group. He was previously a managing director in the corporate finance department of Prudential Securities.

Peter's background includes serving as chairman or board member of such companies as Grammer Transport, ADS Logistics, Cimarron Energy, Stafford Logistics, Thompson Trucking, Skyline Windows, and Transpro Burgener.

Peter earned an MBA from the Darden School of Business Administration of the University of Virginia and a BA from Wesleyan University.

Register Now to Hear How the Transportation
& Logistics Industries Are Being Transformed

Given the sweeping events in the energy sector, as well as all the developments in technologies, today's successful transportation and logistics companies are vastly different from what they were just a year ago.

So when you attend this conference, you’ll benefit from hearing Peter and his knowledgeable guests answer such questions as --

  • Where are we in the transportation & logistics M&A cycle?
  • Where do investors in transportation & logistics companies often make mistakes, and how can the traps and pitfalls be avoided?
  • Is the valuation gap between asset based and non-asset based companies continuing to widen?
  • How do you create a more positive environment for drivers and lessen the impact of today's industry-wide driver shortage?
  • What government regulations may affect the transportation & logistics industries in 2016?
  • What disruptive technologies, such as video surveillance of drivers, may affect the industry?
  • What sub-sectors are experiencing the greatest growth, and which new services are companies likely to add to benefit customers?
  • Why have third-party logistics (3PL) providers become indispensable within the industry?
  • How does a firm prepare to exit a transportation & logistics investment? What are realistic time horizons? What are the keys to a successful outcome?

Three More Reasons Why You Should Join Us

  1. Realize how transportation & logistics companies are changing to meet the demands of just-in-time strategies.
  2. Discover how the sector is adapting to new government safety regulations and which companies may be unable to keep up with the demands.
  3. Understand the increasing importance of human resources in shaping the work environment at transportation & logistics companies.

Recent Middle-Market Transportation & Logistics Deals

  • OMERS Private Equity's acquisition of Kenan Advantage Group Inc., a provider of liquid bulk transportation services, from Goldman Sachs Capital Partners and Centerbridge Partners.
